Privacy Policy

BakeLink is operated from New York and offered to people in the United States. This policy explains what we collect and why.

• Your name, email address and password (stored only as a bcrypt hash, we never see it)
• Profile details you choose to add: location, bio, photos, tags
• Orders, quotes and the messages you exchange about them
• Payment records. Card details go directly to Stripe and never touch our servers

When you place an order, the baker sees your name and what you wrote. Cafes placing wholesale orders also share their business contact details. We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for advertising.

We share the minimum needed with a few trusted providers who work on our behalf:

• Stripe — payment processing and payouts to bakers
• Our email and hosting providers — to send notifications and run the site

These providers may only use your information to provide their service to us.

We use only essential cookies, to keep you signed in and remember preferences like light or dark mode. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, so there is no consent banner to click through.

Messages are visible to the two parties to an order and to BakeLink staff investigating a reported problem. They are not end-to-end encrypted.

Passwords are stored only as salted hashes, traffic is served over HTTPS, and card details are handled by Stripe rather than us. No method is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

We keep your account and profile while your account is open. Order, payment and message records are kept for as long as needed to run the service and to meet legal, tax and accounting requirements, then deleted or anonymised.

BakeLink is for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

You can view and edit your profile at any time, and you can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal information by emailing bakelinknetwork@gmail.com. We keep order and payment records after deletion where we are legally required to.
